Let American-Made Cutlery Be The Judge: Pie vs. Cake

Today, everyone is celebrating one of the most famous holidays- Thanksgiving- with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pies. LOTS of pies!

But did you know that today is actually National Cake Day?

I personally prefer pie to cake, with its buttery crust and endless varieties of fillings. But perhaps we should all give cake a bit of attention today and add it to our Thanksgiving menu. Whether you choose traditional flavors such as vanilla or chocolate, or go the funfetti route, it’ll satisfy your sweet tooth for sure!

American-Made Cutlery Dares All Men to Do This One Thing

Men can cook too!
Men can cook too!

A typical assumption is that the women of the family are always in the kitchen preparing the family’s meals. But WHAT IF… the MEN made the meal this time? Today is National Men Make Dinner Day, which is the perfect day for the men in our lives to practice their culinary skills.

No guys, you’re not allowed to cheat and make instant ramen, or, even sadder, just a bowl of cereal. Your family wants a little more effort than that.

So here is a little help for cooking your best meal with American-made cutlery, whether it’s a meal for one or for 20:

  1. PLAN your menu (Pick your main dish, then choose a side and dessert that complement it)
  2. SHOP for ingredients- choose fresh, quality ingredients. If you can’t find what you need, then maybe alter your menu
  3. Mise en place, or “everything in its place”. This means set-up, organize, and chop your ingredients. The American-made cutlery that you’ll need:
  4. COOK
  5. SERVE
  6. CLEAN- Let someone else clean up so you can rest!

Okay, so usually mold on food is seen as bad, right? Well, not in the land of cheese it isn’t!

Moldy cheese has a bad reputation among some, and is strongly adored by others. It is actually a key component in making these types of cheeses:

  • Blue cheeses: Roquefort, Gorgonzola, Stilton, etc
  • Soft-ripened cheeses: Brie, Camembert, Humboldt Fog, and St. André

Personally, I don’t mind a little bit of mold on my cheese- blue cheese is a great addition to lunch salads, and the super-creamy texture of St. André is to-die-for (trust me). American-Made Cutlery has the best cheese knife out there:
